We’ve known for a while that people are spending more and more time watching online video, and that good real estate videos can really take a listing to new heights. Now, statistics from Australian property portal thehomepage.com.au show that videos can actually keep home hunters engaged with a listing for longer.
In a recent interview with our sister website Property Portal Watch, thehomepage.com.au CEO Ben Stockdale revealed that adding embedded videos to the portal’s listings caused a dramatic increase in time-on-site. Talking with business2.com.au, Stockdale added: “We’ve seen our average session duration climb to an average of 10.33 minutes - over a minute more than the market leader.”
The latest figures from comScore suggest online video is still very much on the rise, showing that 180 million US Internet users watched online video for an average of 18.5 hours per viewer. This meant a record 6.9 billion viewing sessions for the month.
So if you’re not using online video to market your listings yet, there’s no better time to get started. Have a look at some of our popular video articles here for some inspiration.
