Century 21 Goes Social

Century 21 Real Estate LLC has announced the launch of “C21 Communities”, its social media platform. The new Communities section of the Century 21 website includes the “Talks” forum, access to radio broadcasts on “C21 Talk Radio”, and links to Century 21’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr profiles.

Bev Thorne, senior vice president of marketing at Century 21, commented on the company’s move into social media:

“We developed C21 Communities with the goal of opening up an online conversation with the consumer. Just as Century 21 was the first national real estate franchise to advertise on television, we will continue to take a leadership position as we expand our capabilities in the social media space.”

C21 Communities follows in the footsteps of trulia.com’s “Voices” section and zillow.com’s “Advice” forum. The move also reflects the recent shift at Century 21 towards online options. At the start of 2009, the company announced a move to transition from television advertising to online advertising. Century 21 also won the Best Real Estate Online Ad award in the 2009 Internet Advertising Competition awards.
