Real Estate Tech Roundup 15/7/11

Each week, we take a look at the top stories in real estate technology from the past seven days. Here are the latest stories from around the world:

  • RoomBug, US-based roommate matching service that operates via Facebook, has changed its name to RoomSync. “RoomSync describes what we do, which is syncing up roommates who are compatible in close living environments,” the company says. RoomSync says it is now being used by over 20 universities and has recently added a top roommate recommendations engine and academic major and residence hall preference options.
  • The first certified homes assessed under New Zealand’s new Homestar residential rating tool were unveiled at an event supported by realestate.co.nz. The rating system, which was developed by the New Zealand building industry, aims to help Kiwis create healthier, more comfortable and energy-efficient houses. Homestar certified properties for sale will now have their ratings featured on realestate.co.nz.
  • Point2′s newest partner is diyresolutions.com, which added listing syndication to its property management software solution offering to its clients this week. The deal means that diyresolutions.com’s users can automatically post rental listings on 24 of Point2’s syndication partner real estate consumer sites, including major search engines. Point2 says this gives users exposure to millions of additional prospects online at no added cost.
  • inman.com’s report on the top real estate mobile apps gave top rankings to zillow.com in four categories: free Android apps, iPhone apps, iPhone mortgage apps, and iPad apps, overtaking all other property portals including realtor.com. The report was based on app rankings and ratings from topappcharts.com, Apple’s App Store, the Android Market and the BlackBerry App World website, sampled June 28.
