Real Estate Tech Roundup 10/6/11

Each week, we take a look at the top stories in real estate technology from the past seven days. Here are the latest stories from around the world:

  • Canadian real estate marketing company Point2 launched five new national property listing syndication programs in Arizona, Florida, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and South Dakota. Point2 says these new clients represent over 5,500 property listings and 1250 brokers and agents.
  • UK property portal smartnewhomes.com is now allowing users to log into the the site using their Facebook, Gmail or Yahoo account details. smartnewhomes.com says this will help to capture active and accurate email addresses, improving its email campaigns.
  • UK market leader rightmove.co.uk is also reaching out to its audience via Facebook by running a contest dubbed “The Ideas Factory.” The Facebook-based competition asks people to submit their ideas on what will represent the future of home-hunting for the chance to win one of five iPads.
  • Back in Canada, buzzbuzzhome.com has been featured as one of The Globe and Mail’s top 10 companies, having passed the 100,000 unique visitors per month mark. “There’s so much we want to do, and we may need to get some help to make that happen faster than we could do it ourselves,” says co-founder Matthew Slutsky.
  • In the US, The Real Estate and Living Media (REALM) Network - the online advertising service of the LPS Real Estate Group - has teamed up with mobile real estate application provider Smarter Agent. The partnership means that REALM advertisers will also be able to purchase ads on Smarter Agent’s apps. “Smarter Agent has more than 10,000 apps that are branded to major real estate franchisors, MLSs, brokers and agents,” explains REALM general manager Shiraz Vartanian. “By combining those with the thousands of online sites in the REALM, advertisers are able to expand their reach exponentially.”
