zillow.com Updates Local Market Explorer

US real estate marketplace zillow.com will soon release the second version of its Local Market Explorer plugin, with the beta version already available for those keen to try it out.

Local Market Explorer, which was released in mid-August, is zillow.com’s first official plugin for WordPress websites. The plugin aims to help property seekers answer the question, “Where should I live?” by integrating data from zillow.com, education.com, flickr.com, walkscore.com and yelp.com to present information specific to a certain city.

A post on geekestateblog.com explains the second version supports loading data at both a neighbourhood and zip code level. Previously, users could only add data at a city level.

The “Market Statistics” module now includes data such as median list price, median sale price, median list price per square feet and number of homes for sale. Users can also now turn off the Flickr panel independent of area descriptions, and turn off the “Schools” and “Market Statistics” modules if they wish.

When Local Market Explorer was first released, zillow.com outlined its advantages:

“Home buyers spend an immense amount of time researching areas they are interested in living to get a better feel for the area. So, as an agent or broker, having that local information on your own website is a huge benefit to being a complete real estate resource for your clients throughout the buying process.”
