Real Estate Tech Roundup 13/5/11

Each week, we take a a look at the top stories in real estate technology from the past seven days. Here are the latest stories from around the world:

  • Following on from the release of its website widget last week, US map-based real estate search engine hotpads.com added a personalisation feature to its search options. The “My Points” feature allows users to tag places that are important to them on a map, then view listings in relation to these locations.
  • US-based real estate technology consultants 1000Watt Consulting is running beta testing for its new How’s the Market? web app. 1000Watt says the app will allow agents “to take the unique street-level market knowledge in their heads and get it out there in a way that builds engagement, and business.”
  • Both the CEO and CTO of real estate social network activerain.com have stepped down. CEO Jon Washburn says he is moving on to work on a new startup called DailyTicket, while CTO and vice president of product development Jorgen Hahn published a “eulogy” for the network following Market Leader’s move to take an increased stake in it last week.
  • Point2, a Canada-based real estate marketing company, launched its MLS Certified initiative in Texas. This means listings received from local MLSs will feature an MLS Certified logo. Point2 says the initiative is “designed to instill in consumers the confidence that they are browsing original, timely and accurate real estate listings originating from the local Multiple Listing Service.”
  • The Realtors Property Resource (RPR), the US National Association of Realtors’ online real estate database, is now partnered with 274 MLSs representing 500,000 Realtors. “It’s gratifying to see that MLSs representing over half of the countries’ Realtors have voted to deliver the RPR to their members,” says RPR president Marty Frame.
