You spend a lot of time working on your website to attract a bigger audience, but which content actually sticks in people’s minds? Online website testing app Clue is here to answer that question.
In a nutshell:
Clue bills itself as “a fun and easy way to test what people remember on your website.” To create a test, all you need to do is plug in your website’s address and hit “create memory test”.
A test is then automatically created using a screenshot of your website. If people choose to take the test, they are shown this screenshot for 5.5 seconds, then asked to enter what they remember in five separate fields.
Positives:
The best thing about Clue, apart from the fact that you can use it for free, is that it encourages website owners to gather feedback from their audience - a process that is overlooked all too often. Creating the test is ridiculously easy, and sharing it via social media is also extremely simple.
Drawbacks:
While creating and sharing the test is easy, getting people to actually take it could prove more difficult, depending on the enthusiasm levels in your audience. Another drawback is that the test only asks what people remember about your website, which doesn’t tell you whether they liked or disliked it.
If nothing else, the Clue concept is a good reminder to check in with your audience every so often to find out which aspects of your website are working, and which need an overhaul.
