How to Create A Facebook Friend List

If your Facebook strategy is paying off and you’re starting to attract plenty of new people to your page, you might want to take the next step of separating your Facebook friends into lists to make sure everyone is receiving the right kind of information.

Lists are helpful when you want to send updates only to certain groups. They can be particularly useful for real estate agents, allowing them to show new listings or market updates to potential clients, while limiting the number of people reading more personal updates.

Here’s how to create your first list:

1. Log in to Facebook and open up facebook.com/friends.

2. Click on “create a list” at the top right of the page.

3. A “create a new list” box will appear. Type the name of your list in the top left corner.

4. Select the friends you want to add to the list by clicking on their pictures.

5. Click “create list”.

You can now use this list to control which of your Facebook friends sees what you post. Next time you post an update, click on the padlock icon in the bottom right, go down to “customise,” then click “specific people” under “make this visible to.” Then, just type in the name of your new list and your status update will only be visible to the people on that list.
