We heard about the dangers of spreading yourself too thin on social media in yesterday’s Agent Strategies, but for those agents who do have a number of active social profiles and want to showcase them in one place, about.me could be the answer. This is a free service somewhat similar to SocialBios, which we reviewed a few weeks ago, but there are a few key differences.
In a nutshell
With about.me, you can create a professional-looking landing page that tells people a little about yourself as well as linking to your social media profiles. You can also link to multiple websites and include an email option on the page. As you can see from the example below, about.me’s emphasis is on design:
Positives
What makes about.me stand out is its analytics side, which lets you see statistics including how many people clicked on your page, where they came from, and how long they spent reading about you. It’s all free to use, and so far it seems the issue of someone already having taken over your name hasn’t come up.
Drawbacks
As with SocialBios, we’d only recommend a service like this - one that can highlight content from your social media profiles - to agents who are confident their online updates always present them in a positive or at least neutral light. Beyond that, there’s little else we can fault, besides the time you’ll inevitably spend choosing the perfect photo and background for your page.
Are you using about.me as part of your own website or as a stand-alone social profile? Let us know how it’s working for you in our comments.
