Never heard of Google Profiles before? Then you’re missing out on a great opportunity to influence how you appear in Google’s search results (and make sure you’re not represented by the picture above).
Google Profiles appear when people search for your name, so you should be maintaining an up-to-date profile to complement your presences on LinkedIn and your agency’s website. It’s another way to make sure Google results present you in a positive and professional light.
Updating your Google Profile is a simple matter of filling out a few fields. Start by visiting google.com/profiles, then hit “create my profile.” If you’ve already done things like write reviews on Google Maps or share items through Google Reader, you may already have a profile started.
Along with biographical information and photos, Google Profiles can link to your blog and other online profiles such as Facebook. If you enable “send a message” you can also allow anyone with a Google account to email you without revealing your email address.
Filling out your Google Profile need only take a few minutes, but they will be minutes well spent adding to and enhancing your digital presence.
