Surveys Shows the Problems with Print

A recent article by the US-based Leading Real Estate Companies of the World caught our attention as it asks a question relevant to agents everywhere: is print advertising for real estate still worth it?

In a survey, LeadingRE asked its affiliates: “How are you approaching marketing budgets in terms of online versus print advertising?” The answers tell us a lot about the difficulties inherent in print advertising.

One company told LeadingRE that they are committed to a full-page, full-colour ad with their largest regional newspaper for the next 52 weeks. Another noted that while print ads might not necessarily help sell a property, many sellers still aren’t comfortable unless they see their home in the newspaper. Another company reported the same attitude among its sellers, despite the fact that they found it difficult to tie sales results to print advertising.

We’d like to get our readers’ thoughts on this topic, so we’ve come up with the following survey on where your marketing dollars have been spent over the past 12 months. Once you’ve answered the survey, feel free to leave any other thoughts on print advertising in our comments.

How much of your marketing budget was spent on print advertising over the past 12 months?
