reonomy.com Reveals New York Information

Launched last Friday, reonomy.com is a real estate information website that covers both residential and commercial properties. It provides various reports and tools along with a Multiple Listing Service for the five boroughs of New York City and the majority of New Jersey.

The website is subscription based and is currently offering a free 30 day trial. Along with services such as property reports, tenant information and general or client-specific listing searches, the website can also produce 3D visualisations of buildings. Of course, the almost obligatory social networking capability is also available.

In a press release, reonomy.com partner and co-founder Jonathan Arnold explained reonomy.com’s 3D feature:

“One of the features never before available to the public is the site’s 3D bulk study renderings. With the very confusing zoning laws of NYC, it’s often difficult to figure out what potential, if any, a property has for development, redevelopment or expansion. REonomy.com has created a program that allows users to click on any property in NYC to generate a comparative 3D rendering of the largest possible building that could be built on the site as of right.”

A recent review of reonomy.com raises the issue of established websites offering the same or similar services as a potential challenge for the website, and suggests that reonomy.com “may be trying to be too broad, trying to be too many things to too many constituencies and as a result will end up serving none of them particularly well”.

crainsnewyork.com quoted Bill Staniford, chief executive of reonomy.com’s main competitor propertyshark.com, as saying: “We got a ton of programming power we can throw at a competitor like this. It will be hard to knock us off.” However, the article also points to positive responses to reonomy.com from early beta users.
